One.Tel Addresses Calling Rate Adjustment Responding To Sudden Rise in Carriers' Rates

In response to the sudden rate increase of the China long distance service imposed by service carriers, One.Tel today announced the rate adjustment for calling China to $2.5 per min for both landlines and mobile phones starting from 3 November,2002.

"Delivering quality services at affordable prices has long been the commitment of One.Tel, IDD service in China is almost provided at cost. However, facing the sudden increase in rate from the service carriers, we have to adjust the calling rate in order to maintain our normal operations," said spokesman of One.Tel. "One.Tel will continue to provide quality IDD service at 24-hour flat rates," spokesman added.

Effective 3 November, 2002, the new calling rates for China landlines and mobile phones are $2.5 per min. The adjustment applies to all of the products including 1686IDD, HOA calling card and IDD Roaming.

One.Tel launches "Home Connect Calling Card" To Tap New Target Segment

One.Tel today announces the launch of Home Connect Calling Card promotions, with focus on ethnic group living in Hong Kong.

The new services mainly target for Filipino, Indonesian, Thai, Indian and Nepalese in Hong Kong, a new market segment One.Tel is actively exploring. This segment has about 240,000 population in Hong Kong, which represents 3.6% of total population.

"Faced with keen competition in the industry, we have to explore new market segment which we did not place too much emphasis on.
